Hey Shadowhand, I sent you a PM... There are two problems with Thunar that need solving.

Re: Shadowhand's Repo Information

Ok, just so everyone knows:

No, I'm not dead. Yes, I've been addicted to WoW. Yes, I am still updating stuff. No, the [Shadowhand] repo has not been updated lately.

I need someone else to maintain XGL-cvs and co. It requires gnome stuff (compiz actually), which in turn screws up my gaim-svn pkg because it starts to find and include things like gstreamer. On top of that, I don't use XGL enough to justify the time necessary to compile, test, and upload it. So, anyone who is interested, please send me a PM, or talk to me on IRC. I can provide bandwidth and a place to host the pkgs, I just don't want to maintain it anymore.

Secondly, about the issue with the "Settings Manager" Thunar icon that bitches about dbus: This is not my fault. Thunar + dbus/hal work great, the error is bogus, and upstream (afaik). That Manager icon is quite new (the last 5 or less revisions show it), and I have a feeling it's not fully implemented yet. I'll keep watching it, but seeing as Thunar does work with dbus/hal, I don't feel very pressed by this issue.

Re: Shadowhand's Repo Information

I just commented out

[shadowhand]
Server = http://arch.os-zen.net/pkg/shadowhand

and then added

[xfce-svn]
Server = http://arch.os-zen.net/pkg/xfce-svn

and then did

pacman -Syu

and got a lot of newer xfce4 files. Thanks. But then I read that I should have cleaned the cache and resinstalled, so I did this:

pacman -Sc
pacman -S xfce4-svn

and got this:

error: archive gtk-xfce-engine-svn-21138-1.pkg.tar.gz is corrupted
error: archive libxfce4mcs-svn-20976-1.pkg.tar.gz is corrupted
error: archive xfwm4-themes-svn-21527-1.pkg.tar.gz is corrupted

If I then uncomment the shadowhand repo, so that I now have both it and the xfce repos active, I get this:

error: archive fixesproto-4.0-1.pkg.tar.gz is corrupted

Re: Shadowhand's Repo Information

delete this package from your /var/cache/pacman/pkg

(can a Mod/Forum Adviser move these irrelevant messages to the proper thread, or at least split them out of here please?)

hey guys,
this is my first post, so i hope i'm not saying anything too dumb smile

i was trying to install xgl following the wiki instructions, but when i get to installing compiz-cvs pacman complains about it not being in any db.

i downloaded the shadowhand.db.pkg.tgz (i don't remember the exact name) and it seems compiz-cvs instructions are not in the package.

to fix this, i manually downloaded the newest compiz-cvs package from the shadowhand repo, and installed it with pacman -A package and other than complaining about a couple of dependancies (which pacman had no trouble finding and installing from the repos) i was able to get it installed without any other problems.

hopefully this helps somebody... also hopefully it wasn't my mistake ^_^

Thanks this is exactly what I was looking for!! I figured that I had to do the same, but I wasn't sure, no I'll go head and compile!  smile

Re: Shadowhand's Repo Information

Xfce4 is not in the database. It's in the repo, but I'm pretty lazy to download and install every packet manually. Any chances to fix that up?

Re: Shadowhand's Repo Information

Hi!

I have a little problems with the Xfce4-svn... It install correctly (or it look like), but when i started it with GDM, so i just get the green wallpaper with the Xfce mouse, no panels or menus or so...
Is it a problem with the repo, or is it just me?

Re: Shadowhand's Repo Information

Try running them manually from a terminal and see if there's any output. i.e. "xfce4-panel"

Yeah, xfce4-panel is running perfect in KDE3.5.3 smile so it's not this that are the problem smile

Re: Shadowhand's Repo Information

gtk-xfce-engine-svn needs to be rebuilt against gtk2.10, it seems. I lost my theme after updating to gtk2.10 but manually recompiling gtk-xfce-engine-svn fixed it.

So i should get the source from SVN, and install gtk2.10, and recompile gtk-xfce-engine-svn?

Re: Shadowhand's Repo Information

shadowhand, could you replace the xfce4-minicmd-plugin in your xfce4-pluginpack-svn package by the xfce4-verve-plugin-svn?
it doesn't really make sense to have the verve plugin as a seperate plugin and the minicmd plugin, since the minicmd plugin is outdated anyway and verve being the successor.

and remove the clock plugin too, since the orageclock plugin from xfcalendar-svn is the better one.

I'm getting segfaults with Thunar whenever I try to open any directory other than my home directory. This started happening when I upgraded to 22511-1

Re: Shadowhand's Repo Information

xfce4-svn is great.. I have completely left gnome and it feels great.. unfortunately gnome is to sluggish, the bad performance just was killing me..

Yet one annoyance with xfce4-svn, no multiple marking with the mouse on desktop.. thats annoying.

Ahhh...thanks.  I don't keep anything on the desktop with my Xfce4 install,  so I guess I've never noticed.
