Microphone buzzing

Recently my microphone started (suddenly) to sound distorted. When I make a loud noise, the microphone records a distorted echo two seconds later. I confirmed that this was also the case with an Ubuntu live USB. Oddly, with the live USB the delay between the real sound and the distorted echo was more like 200ms than 2s.

I've tried all the combinations of microphone and headphone jacks on my motherboard. My motherboard is still in its warranty period so I do have that option as a last resort. I have already replaced my mic, having thought that that was the cause of the issues (it was no different with the new one). I've also tried unplugging all possible devices nearby and removing peripherals, none of which helped.

Specs:
CPU: Ryzen 7 2700
Motherboard: GIGABYTE X470 AORUS Gaming 7 WIFI
Headphones: normal analog headphones (BeyerDynamic DT770)
Mic: cheap but new condenser mic (ZM-MIC1)
Case: Fractal Design R5 (I have tried removing the front audio cable from the motherboard and just using the rear ports, it didn't help)

Any suggestions?
