[SOLVED]cups - update printer driver

Hi,

I haven't used my printer since a while and noticed an error when looking at its status in cups administration: File "/usr/lib/cups/filter/rastertogutenprint.5.2" not available: No such file or directory"
I see this file is owned by gutenprint 5.2.13-1 and I currently have gutenprint 5.3.1-1.

Is there a way to force cups to use the new gutenprint files for my printer? My first idea was to remove my printer and add it again in cups but there may be a cleaner way to do that.

Thanks,
Geoffrey

Re: [SOLVED]cups - update printer driver

Do you use some AUR package for your printer?

Re: [SOLVED]cups - update printer driver

Afaik removing your printer and adding it again is the only surefire way. Technically gutenprint ships the

cups-genppdupdate

utility, however at least for my printer it never worked and I had to add it again (Or rather, edit the printer entry so that it's PPD line points to the new version, afaik you can keep the rest intact, haven't used the CUPS web interface in a while, but e.g. the printer setup utility in KDE allows to simply change the backing PPD keeping all other information as is.)

I only use the gutenprint package.

Thanks, I tried it but got into some margin overlapping issue which I couldn't fix. In the end I removed and added again the printer in cups. Works now.

Thanks again.
