Latest update caused desktop environment changes?[Solved]

I have two Arch installations and after the latest update both now show the gnome footprint icon where they used to read 'Menu'.

The bottom panel has increased in size, covering my conky, and several items have been removed or moved in the cinnamon menu?

Is this a fault or was this meant to happen?

Thanks!

The latest update for cinnamon has restored the correct menu and changed the menu icon from the gnome footprint to a mountain.

However, the bottom panel is still wider than it was originally.

Re: Latest update caused desktop environment changes?[Solved]

These were all meant to happen, as Cinnamon received a bit of a redesign. That being said, e.g the Gnome footprint was kind of silly, as I mentioned on the linuxmint development channel, so this commit was added to further adapt it: https://github.com/linuxmint/Cinnamon/c … ab9d735c6b

This is now in the 4.0.1 point release I just packaged.

...

You can right-click the menu applet and select Configure, then disable "Use a custom icon and label" to get back the old gear icon and the *word* menu, if you really want.

Also, System Settings ==> Preferences ==> Panel lets you play around a bit with the icon sizes, panel height, etc. I don't like the defaults either, and switched it back to how it looked before...

@eschwartz

Ausgezeichnet!

Now that the menu has returned to a more familiar look, I have no problems with the changes and actually prefer the look of the desktop.

I only asked because I didn't want to go fiddling with my conky, as you do, and have it change back if it was a bug.

Thanks!
