vipw -s

The command vipw does not appear to have an -s option on Arch?
Is there a different tool to edit shadow?

Re: vipw -s

Which aspect of the shadow file do you want to modify?

How about...

vi /etc/shadow

No, it didn't "fix" anything. It just shifted the brokeness one space to the right. - jasonwryan
Closing -- for deletion; Banning -- for muppetry. - jasonwryan

Re: vipw -s

Well.. That's more or less what I did; but one misses out on the nifty file locking et al. that vipw provides.

Has vipw been deprecated or some such?

Re: vipw -s

`man flock`

What distributions of vipw have a flag to edit shadow?

Re: vipw -s

Some distros use shadow-utils to provide vipw (among other commands): https://github.com/shadow-maint/shadow

Arch uses util-linux: https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/utils/ut … linux.git/
