Despite using mostly mpv media player, days ago, I was playing a DVD-Video ISO image with VLC and, all of a sudden, systemd crashed again, for the same reason.

Until then, aside kernel panics, I had never had a systemd crash, let alone two crashes in just a matter of days.

That's not systemd crashing, that's X.

On my machine vlc 3.0.4-7 crashes due to a problem with libdvbpsi. Downgrade to 3.0.4-6 fixes the problem.
Offline
@bt, vlc crashes are not the same as Xorg server crashes…
@damnbug (Do you really want to be called like this ;-)
Optimus system?
Please post "lspci" output and your xorg log.

Then why does it kill internet connections, screen, even irssi?
Offline
Everything that relies on the shell server will go down. If you're running screen & irssi in shells under the X11 session / in X11 VTEs, they'll die as well.
On top of that the backtrace you provided explicitly states "systemd-coredump[12297]: Process 460 (Xorg) of user 0 dumped core" so there's really no question about what happens.
Please answer post #4 and provide the requested output if you want this to go anywhere.
You may also paste a *complete* journal of the boot if you feel there may actually being previous issues leading to the Xorg crash as a mere follow-up, but as of now, you've only provided evidence of an Xorg crash.
