yaourt : why isn't there any post related

yaourt " Yet another Archlinux package manager" showed on the liste of packages to install, today when I upgraded the system with usual pacman -Syu

can't find any related post neither on bbs, aur of forum.archlinux.fr

I was quite surprised since I can't remember installing "another pacman". But what it says:

Yaourt 0.1.4: Archlinux package manager
usage:  yaourt {-h --help}
        yaourt {-V --version}
        yaourt {-A --add}     [options] <file>
        yaourt {-R --remove}  [options] <package>
        yaourt {-U --upgrade} [options] <file>
        yaourt {-F --freshen} [options] <file>
        yaourt {-Q --query}   [options] [package]
        yaourt {-S --sync}    [options] [package]
        yaourt {-C --clean}   [options]

yaourt's options are based on srcpac's an pacman's, so check the pacman man page
srcpac adds two options to -S: -b and -o
-b : builds the targets from source
-o : applies config changes and less's the PKGBUILD without building
yaourt adds:
-always search and build direcly from AUR
-colorised outpout
-ability to search and build packages direcly from AUR
-show new orphans after package removing
-clean function -C : see pacdiffviewer -h

...seems interesting enough for me to launch it. Colours on researches make it more readable anyway : packages from mirrors that are on my pacman.conf are in Turquoise while AUR are in purple, yeah big_smile

That is not official - as you can see it is in a third party repo.

Re: yaourt : why isn't there any post related

Thank you brain, allright (was a bit weird not to find a single reference anywhere arround here)

wain > so yaourt (nice name btw wink ) replace pacremove ? allright got it.
It's additionnal functions look nice to me & I'm okay to test it in this location.
Also features like "-b" (build) might look very interesting to guys that used MDV rpmbuild or it's Debian etc equivalent

This -b option just call "srcpac" from Xentac.

The goal of yaourt is to group all tools in one command 8)
