[Solved] RTL8821CE PCIe dual wireless - Bluetooth - not working

EDIT: Partially solved by shutting down and booting up arch every time bluetooth or wifi are not working, and also blacklisting ideapad_laptop module, which is not an ideeal solution for me - will come back to arch when drivers support is better.

Hello everyone,

I am having an issue with the adapter mentioned in the subject. I did find the firmware and managed to install it, but the Bluetooth part of the adapter does not work.

I used the following source for the firmware (AUR) since it did not work out of the box:

rtl8821ce-dkms-git 1.0.1.r16.g3d9dd1f-1

My system's kernel version: Linux archlinux 4.14.84-1-lts #1 SMP Tue Nov 27 19:29:28 CET 2018 x86_64 GNU/Linux

lsusb; rfkill list output

I also get this in bluetoothctl

Agent registered
[bluetooth]# devices
No default controller available
[bluetooth]# power on
No default controller available
[bluetooth]# list
[bluetooth]#

The adapter worked under Windows 10 and Ubuntu 18.04.

I also disabled the fast/quick boot option in the bios.

I did follow the procedure from Bluetooth - ArkWiki and installed everything.

I kept finding posts in forums regarding RTL8821CE and saw the potential solutions but they were issues related to Ubuntu, where, weirdly, it worked for me.

I also found something regarding a hardware switch for the adapter, but I only have a button to switch to airplane mode (F7 used with Fn).

Can you please help me get this up (that's what he said)?

Or at least point me to the right direction?

Thank you very much,
Alin

Re: [Solved] RTL8821CE PCIe dual wireless - Bluetooth - not working

Hey there, also a newbie here. smile
So take this with a grain of salt. I have got the same wireless chipset on my laptop and get more or less the same outputs as you, however the output of bluetoothctl was differnt. I saw my smartphone which has been paired with the laptop running the command devices and I got a device when running the command list in bluetoothctl.
I am assuming your Wifi works? If this does not work either, have you installed the kernel headers?
I hope that helps.
Greetings,
Booming
