fingerprint not working after i3lock resume

Whenever my computer suspends it first triggers i3lock through services, I have i3lock setup to be unlocked with fingerprint. The one problem is i3lock doesn't seem to power on the fingerprint scanner if it has resumed from suspend, I believe this might be an issue with the kernel disconnecting the reader on suspend and not reconnecting it on wakeup. Any help would be apperciated.
