I have a Laptop with a rather fresh Arch Linux installation with i3 as window manager.
Currently I am trying to connect with icaclient to a virtual desktop. After opening the .ica file with the engine, it opens the remote desktop fullscreen and freezes. Sometimes, the first few clicks still have an effect but then nothing works anymore. The i3 key shortcuts for closing the window or switching desktop no longer work.
The citrix engine is however quite busy: After logging in on tty2 with another user, htop shows me that it is using ~80% CPU (and ventilation is running audibly).
I therefore suspect that the problem here is not the network connection but somehow the graphical rendering.
Has anybody had a similar problem (and found a solution) or has an idea what I could do to better understand what is going on here? Does icaclient maybe not work with i3?

it may be related to fullscreen, i experienced the same behavior on gnome-shell, i was able to work around by setting the client to start in windowed mode:
edit ~/.ICAClient/All_Regions.ini
[Virtual Channels\Seamless Windows]
TWIMode=0
[Virtual Channels\Thinwire Graphics]
DesiredColor=8
ApproximateColors=*
DesiredHRES=1024
DesiredVRES=768
ScreenPercent=*
UseFullScreen=false
TWIFullScreenMode=false
NoWindowManager=false

I'm using gnome desktop and have been having the screen freeze issue.
Running Citrix in windowed mode has solved this for me (so thank you).
I had a read through of the Citrix forum post and I saw comments about bringing this to Citrix's attention. My company is looking at rolling this out more broadly soon (I've been testing the system in advance) so I've asked our IT to flag the issue to Citrix. I appreciate that, as a linux user, I'm probably a bit of an outlier within my company, but there's no harm in asking!

Yes, that was it, thank you so much for that hint! Now my last reason to use Windows every now and then is officially eliminated

Also going to say thanks for this - fixed my problem on KDE plasma too. And also eliminated my reason to use Windows every now and then!

I have the same problem in i3 with citrix but the above solution does not work for me.
The Citrix desktop still starts with fullscreen even I added all the recomendet settings in ~/.ICAClient/All_Regions.ini and also verified with /opt/Citrix/ICAClient/util/configmgr.
The Citrix session works fine with Gnome but not with i3.

I also tried "for_window [class="Wfica"] floating enable" in i3 config.
