Today on pacman update I had the lines:
New optional dependencies for youtube-dl
python-cryptodome: for hlsnative downloader
and yet:
# pacman -Ss python-cryptodome
#
So that package does not exist.
Does anyone have any information on whether this is a packaging error or is the package available elsewhere?

The package page for it: https://www.archlinux.org/packages/comm … outube-dl/
Lists python-cryptodome as "virtual". That's a new one for me and it almost certainly means something I don't know yet.

Afaik a virtual package is not really a package that exist, but rather a common package name that may be provided by zero or more packages in their respective "provides" section.

There are "python-pycryptodome" packages for 2 and 3 Python but they don't provide "python-cryptodome" and instead provide "python-crypto".
Edit:
Python2 -> https://www.archlinux.org/packages/comm … ryptodome/
Python3 -> https://www.archlinux.org/packages/comm … ryptodome/
