Trackpad randomly stops working

I've running into a strange issue with my laptop's trackpad over the last two months. After using it for some time (usually a couple of hours, though it often happens not long after restarting), the it starts to gradually stop working until the cursor does not move at all, while everything else works. Running dmesg on a terminal yields the following output:

Is this common/caused by some recent update?
