[SOLVED]nVidia driver libglvnd

I am about to install the nvidia driver for Arch. I wrote: pacman -S nvidia and I was prompted with 2 options, 1) libglvnd        2) nvidia-340xx-utils.
I assumed I should install the first one to get the proprietary driver but it stated that it would install mesa which I heard is used for the open source drivers. Which one should I choose and why?

Re: [SOLVED]nVidia driver libglvnd

use libglvnd, mesa as in the mesa package contains vendor independent headers and you will have it installed in one shape or form.anyway. All current drivers have been adapted to support libglvnd, libglvnd then does the correct thing depending on which actual graphics card vendor is in use. nvidia-340xx-libgl is only for legacy nvidia cards where the driver doesn't implement libglvnd.

Also before you open up the next thread on a potential stumbling block, is this a laptop, with both intel and nvidia cards? You should likely read https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/NVIDIA_Optimus
