There's this package from cabal i'm interested in running, but what's the best way to setup haskell without having to go through arch's package manager so i wont be bombarded with constant haskell package updates or encounter possible dependency hell?

What dependency hell? If the package is provided by the official repos, there is no dependency hell, because we already took care of that for you. Sure you will have frequent updates but those are updates to the software you are trying to run, so updates are a good thing.
If it is packages not installed from the official repos, then there is nothing about the official repos that stops you from using the ghc compiler from the repos, in order to compile your own software using whichever your chosen method of dependency hell or lack thereof. That being said, Arch defaults to dynamically compiling everything, so as the linked wiki article says, you'll need to install ghc-static in order to compile the static binaries which haskell people seem to be in love with. That's going to put you back into the dark ages of a 2GB haskell installation.
