Hi guys. I am using lxde on a netbook and was trying to enable the touchpad tap to click. Following the wiki I installed the xf86-input-synaptics and created the config file /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/10-synaptics.conf according to wiki.
Rebooted the system and now the boot stuck on"starting version 239
/dev/sda1: clean ......"
Any help? Thank you

Which wiki did you follow? You most likely should not be using synaptics. But in any case, it sounds like just Xorg may be having issues - I gather you use a display manager to boot directly into X, is this right? Which one?
Can you change to another tty (Ctrl-Alt-F2, or Ctrl-Alt-F3)?

I followed this wiki:
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Touchpad_Synaptics
I am using lxdm as display manager.
Unfortunately i can not open other tty because as soon as it asks me for login, immediately goes to that message (starting version 239..)

Did you see the big red Warning at the top of that wiki page?
Can you clarify the other response: if you press Ctrl-Alt-F2 you get prompted for "<Machinename> Login:" but then you get the "starting version 239" printed on the screen again? If so, try loging in anyways. The login waits for input from the keyboard, even if other content is printed to the screen, it will still accept input.

unfortunately i followed same wiki but from another language that does not have that red box and, at this point, seems to be not updated. Anyway i finally got into the DE again removing that file i created following the deprecated wiki. Now installed xf86-input-libinput and i did a new file as indicated by the libinpuy wik /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/40-libinput.conf but i can not understand what value to put next to Option "Tapping" in order to get tap to click working. What does it mean "bool"?
Various other option are here

The English page for libinput does not contain the word 'bool', but that would mean boolean, true/false or on/off. The English wiki provides a proper example for tap-to-click:
Option "Tapping" "on"Ah, the "bool" is from the libinput man page where it specifies "Tapping" be specified as a bool. That page also directs you to the Xorg.conf man page which explains:
Boolean options may optionally have a value specified. When no value is specified, the option's value is TRUE. The following boolean option values are recognised as TRUE:
1, on, true, yes
and the following boolean option values are recognised as FALSE:
0, off, false, no
If an option name is prefixed with "No", then the option value is negated.
Example: the following option entries are equivalent:
Option "Accel" "Off"
Option "NoAccel"
Option "NoAccel" "On"
Option "Accel" "false"
Option "Accel" "no"

thank you Trilby. It is weird i stuck on the same boot error using this file /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/30-touchpad.conf:
Section "InputDevice"
Identifier "SynPS/2 Synaptics TouchPad"
MatchIsTouchpad "on"
Driver "libinput"
Option "Tapping" "on"
EndSectionEDIT: Got it working. In the first row it is not "InputDevice" but "InputClass" and under Identifier goes just "touchpad"
