Issues getting x to start

Hi all,

After 4 years of using Mac I came back to the land Archlinux (primarily because I missed it and also because I wanted to get back to Xmonad)
I acquired a X1Extreme (with 1050ti). I followed(atleast I think I did ) and installed arch.
I installed the nvidia driver from pacman, xf86-video-intel.
And am getting the following error.
https://pastebin.com/PTfX2R8i
Can some one point me in the right direction or further steps I need to take to debug this issue?

Re: Issues getting x to start

Is the nvidia kernel module loaded?

Re: Issues getting x to start

`lsmod` or `lspci -k`  the latter should list it under 'Kernel driver in use' as well as 'Kernel modules'.

Re: Issues getting x to start

01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation GP107M [GeForce GTX 1050 Ti Mobile] (rev a1)
Subsystem: Lenovo GP107M [GeForce GTX 1050 Ti Mobile]
    Kernel modules: nouveau, nvidia_drm, nvidia

The kernel knows that device can use the nvidia driver but it is not loaded.  To be certain you have not manually blacklisted any modules?
What is the output of the following

pacman -Q linux
pacman -Qs nvidia
dmesg

So what should I do now?
Curious why isn't it defaulting to the intel graphics card?

Re: Issues getting x to start

If you intend to run X11 on the nvidia chip, try to enforce running Xorg as root, https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Xorg#Rootless_Xorg

Edit: as of your last sentence, please specify how you intend to use the GPUs, you can enforce the intel chip w/ eg. a server layout or by powering off the nvidia chip w/ eg. bbswitch (or ideally in the BIOS, if you don't want to use it at all)
