Trying to play Rise of the Tomb Raider, but I can't get past the loading screen. 1 of 3 things happen:
1 - 99.99% of the time the options window pops up and just stays black and empty. (opening file://localhost/home/nathan/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/Rise%20of%20the%20Tomb%20Raider/share/FeralUI/PGOW/Core/feralUI.html in a browser, which I just assume is very different is full of errors, and the black wall I see appears to be the loading div)
2 - A few times now I have launched it and the option dialog works when I click the play button it goes away and nothing happens. Steam thinks the game is running. I find 2 processes running './bin/RiseOfTheTombRaider' (sleeping), and '/home/nathan/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/Rise of the Tomb Raider/bin/RiseOfTheTombRaider --type=zygote --no-sandbox --lang=en-US --locales-dir-path=/home/nathan/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/Rise of the Tomb Raider/share/cef/locales --resources-dir-path=/home/nathan/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/Rise of the Tomb Raider/share/cef' (zombie)
3 - I have once got into the game and it just immediately frooze. I feel like I've been trying the same thing over and over and need some new idea. It's a fresh install of arch, I've tried re-installing the game.
I'm new to arch and gaming on linux in general, so bare with me. I should be using the regular steam-runtime, while some games don't work (civ VI, and worms W.M.D) all my other feral games work great: deus ex mankind divided, F1 2015, XCOM 2, Hitman. There isn't anything in Game-specific_troubleshooting for the game but I have tried running it with `LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/lib/openssl-1.0`, no change. Steam/Troubleshooting gave me a tip of running gdb on it which actually got me into the game only for it to feeze on the loading screen, it is the only thing to create a dmp in /home/nathan/.local/share/feral-interactive/Rise of the Tomb Raider/crashes. I've also tried: launching with `-nolauncher`, and uninstalling all dlc. Most people seem to say they have no issues with the game so I'm not sure what I'm missing ![]()
System details:
video card: rx580
kernel: Linux amdarch 4.19.11-arch1-1-ARCH
xf86-video-amdgpu: 18.1.0-1
mesa: 18.3.1-1
vulkan-radeon: 18.3.1-1
steam-native-runtime: 1.0.0.56-3 (Should be irrelevant?)
gamemode: 1.2-1
Here is the output of things:
~$ steam
https://pastebin.com/JCZBj7q7
/home/nathan/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/Rise of the Tomb Raider$ LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/lib/openssl-1.0 ./RiseOfTheTombRaider.sh
or
/home/nathan/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/Rise of the Tomb Raider$ ./RiseOfTheTombRaider.sh
https://pastebin.com/vsDGBf9m
/home/nathan/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/Rise of the Tomb Raider$ LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/lib/openssl-1.0 ./bin/RiseOfTheTombRaider
or
/home/nathan/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/Rise of the Tomb Raider$ ./bin/RiseOfTheTombRaider
https://pastebin.com/dr2Yttms
/home/nathan/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/Rise of the Tomb Raider$ gdb bin/RiseOfTheTombRaider
(This actually got to the loading screen in game to crash)
https://pastebin.com/BWe1tkD5
/home/nathan/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/Rise of the Tomb Raider$ ldd bin/RiseOfTheTombRaider
https://pastebin.com/n5W3um8y
If someone wants the .dmp I can throw that up somehwere too. Don't see any attach feature on the forum.
edit - Just for completeness I tried steam-native
$ STEAM_RUNTIME=0 steam-native

Well
[1222/122029:INFO:CONSOLE(0)] "The specified value '!' does not conform to the required format. The format is '#rrggbb' where rr, gg, bb are two-digit hexadecimal numbers.", source: file://localhost/home/nathan/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common
doesn't seem to be the issue. Found a reference to it here: https://github.com/bgrins/spectrum/issues/291. Replacing spectrum in `Rise of the Tomb Raider/share/FeralUI/PGOW/Core/3rdParty` with a newer version from https://github.com/bgrins/spectrum/releases did remove that error but still shows up as a black screen for feral options.
This game does work for you guys right?

Are you running on Wayland? If yes, try inside a Xorg session, that's what fixed it for me.
