[SOLVED] Failed to mount the real root device

Hi everyone. Need some help. Not an advanced linux user. Tried to install Arch and stuck in the very beginning (right after I select "Install Arch "option).
This error message doesn't let me continue on installation:

ERROR: Failed to mount the real root device.
Bailing out, you are on your own.  Good luck.

can anyone help me switch to Arch from Mint? big_smile Thanks in advance!

Re: [SOLVED] Failed to mount the real root device

Which iso did you use?  Are you booting from a CD or flash drive?  How did you burn the iso to the CD/flash drive?

Re: [SOLVED] Failed to mount the real root device

Thank you for the quick response,
I downloaded .iso from official website through torrent. Used rufus to make a bootable usb-stick.
By some reason I can't boot directly form USB, so I have to run PLOP from CD to enable USB and only then I can boot from flash-drive. Not sure if this helps...

Re: [SOLVED] Failed to mount the real root device

Did you follow the recommended creation method for rufus as described by the wiki (i.e. use DD Image mode)?: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/US … sing_Rufus

Try again using the Arch Wiki instructions and see if that gets you any further.

Re: [SOLVED] Failed to mount the real root device

I've tried dd method using terminal and failed...boot manager didn't even see the boot device. Weird..
Rufus (with recommendations given above) did the trick. Works fine now!

::SOLVED::

Wish me luck to install Arch tomorrow without any other issues smile

Please remember to mark your thread [SOLVED] (edit the title of your first post).

Use the Installation Guide as your reference as you install, and pay attention to the steps and the results. If you need to ask for more help, "I think I ... whatever it was" is not useful information for people trying to help you.
