Hey, is someone else experiencing similar issues and has a clue what i might be doing wrong? i might have other issues as well, it sais something about failing to connect to a dbus, i'm using lightdm and only xfce shows something besides errors, gnome3 fails and returns without message, cinnamon states dbus connection problems, plasma the same, but i'm having possibly irrelevant problems mounting my secondary encrypted harddrive through filemanagers anyway, so it could be an older issue, just in case it's newer, someone else might have the same issues
I'm running an Optimus setup with Bumblebee, Mesa and the proprietary Nvidia driver if that might help
edit: it seems like only systemd is the culprit, changing the topic accordingly

Software versions? Actual error messages from the journal?
Moving to NC...

i can't figure out any relevant error messages in the journal, and it affects systemd 240 with syslinux 6.04 alpha2, if i downgrade systemd, libsystemd, lib32-systemd to 239.370 and syslinux to 6.03.11 everything works fine
i'll check some more though...

Running cinnamon here with grub;
I tested systemd 240 a few days ago from testing no problems with login (lightdm), however I noticed google-chrome would not launch.
Tried from cli and the terminal just froze on me, lol!
I did not collect any logs because I was "just testing"
I rebooted and reverted to stable, hope devs are waiting for a more stable version
edit: @loqs, thanks for the link

KDE5 / plasma appears to not be affected
Deepin desktop and XFCE4 are fixed for the issue. lx-session / lxsession-gtk3 may not be affected because of https://github.com/lxde/lxsession/blob/ … .vala#L267
cinnamon-session, mate-session, gnome-session and probably lxde-common are affected.

oh, i think i found something, heres a log of my login attempt:
https://pastebin.com/RnciE5sm
i have the whole boot as log but it shows all my previously used wifi's so i'd like it if i wouldn't have to show that part publicly
this might be interesting too:
Dec 31 10:24:27 Marvin [457]: Failed to wait spawned command 'mtd_probe /dev/mtd1ro': Input/output error
Dec 31 10:24:27 Marvin [430]: Failed to wait spawned command 'mtd_probe /dev/mtd0ro': Input/output error
it doesn't show up with systemd 239.370

I think it's pretty hilarious that Manjaro in their repositories that are *supposed* to track our stable repositories, are instead packaging their own critical infra that we have rightly kept in [testing]...
But either way we know exactly what the issue is, and there was a link to the bugtracker posted above. We've been in discussion with upstream, trying to figure out what the best path is... systemd 240 definitely has its issues...
