Using bluetoothctl but device does not appear in "scan on" listing

Hello, new to Arch and am trying to connect to my Sennheiser bluetooth headphones. When I do "scan on", my headphones do not show up and I am not sure where to go from here. Is this an issue with the headphones or am I doing something wrong on my end?

Re: Using bluetoothctl but device does not appear in "scan on" listing

Did you try the 'power on' command before running the 'scan on' one?

According to the wiki:

Enter power on to turn the power to the controller on. It is off by default and will turn off again each reboot

Apologies if you're already running the 'power on' command, are you sure your device is in discoverable mode and does your controller find other Bluetooth devices by any chance?

Yes each time I followed the directions on the wiki. My issue is rather that I do not know why my device does not show up on the list of available devices.
