Hi all,
I wonder if anyone else is seeing this error or not:
Jan 16 19:23:56 thinkt470 /usr/lib/gdm-x-session[1828]: (EE) modeset(0): present flip failed
Jan 16 19:23:56 thinkt470 /usr/lib/gdm-x-session[1828]: (EE) modeset(0): Failed to get GBM bo for flip to new front.
I am running Archlinux :
Linux thinkt470 4.19.15-1-lts #1 SMP Sun Jan 13 13:53:52 CET 2019 x86_64 GNU/Linux
and gdm:
gdm-3.30.2-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz
mate desktop 1.20.4.
Upon recent updates and frequent package upgrades, I noticed that the journalctl is flooded with the above errors and recently playing videos in vlc hangs in middle with a black screen and sound jibberish while so can not even log back to the text environment and need to reboot the machine non-graceful way.
P/S I downgraded GDM to 3.28.3-1 in vain and no results either ...had to upgrade it again upon the xorg(xorg-server-1.20.3-1) re-installation dependency

Why did Bodhidharma come from the west?

Was this only after an update?

I am not sure when and how it got in but only recently noticed the logs and after VLC player issue thought they must be related...I have a Thnikpad T470p with two G-Card if that may play a part.

These are messages from the X11 server (the modesetting driver in particular)
Try to get a possibly running wayland server out of the equation: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/GD … rg_backend
