[SOLVED] Console not filled edge to edge

When I boot up my new Arch system the console does not fill my monitor. By that I mean that there is a region around the edge of the monitor that is always black. When I "startx" the window-manager (i3-gaps) fills the monitor just fine and after exiting i3 I then get a console that fills the screen.

Any ideas?

Re: [SOLVED] Console not filled edge to edge

Yeah, not "filtered", that's worthless.
However, what most likely happens is that you're running a VGA console (which is good - nvidia doesn't officially support framebuffer consoles. It can work, but you might get weird issues from it) and your monitor doesn't scale the signal to the native resolution, but runs it in a letterbox. You can often configure that behavor in the monitors OSD and will then get upscaled text from covering the entire panel.

Re: [SOLVED] Console not filled edge to edge

I grabbed a VGA cable to hook up the monitor and that works fine. I'll stick with that since my eyes can't tell it apart from HDMI.
