[Solved] Thunderbird 60 issue

I am using thunderbird-60.4.0 (latest?) in a desktop
4.20.0-arch1-1-ARCH #1 SMP PREEMPT Mon Dec 24 03:00:40 UTC 2018 x86_64 GNU/Linux

It gives me a small box in the menu bar with FPS, CC, Content, and IPDL, each on one line, obscuring the menu entries.

I asked on the thunderbird support site, and they sent me here.
I could include a JPEG, but I can't figure out how to put one here.
if i use an IMG tag, I would still need a place to put it.

PLease, help? It's driving me nuts!

Welcome to the boards.

What general setup are you using? Which window manager/desktop environment, which GTK3 theme? Either way it'd probably help to have a screenshot just upload it in one of the various image hosting sites like imgur or something and link it here (just a link or a thumbnail though) FWIW you might also want to update your system, as it might be a transient issue that has already been fixed and if the kernel is any indication your last update must've been a month ago.

I run system updates weekly if not daily. The kernel is Arch Linux latest release for production.
Xfce4/Xfwm is my default.

Card is by Nvidia, driver is nouveau, Xorg.0.log is 46kB long.

I am having major brain fade here. Can you tell me what system commands to get to the system info for helping?

Please note: THIS IS THE ONLY APP suffering from this phenomenon.

How did you install thunderbird and how are you launching it?

Also, can you reproduce the issue in a clean profile?

I installed it with pacman, in a full update.

The issue replicates with a clean profile, so I am sure it is not in anything I have explicitly set. Set by install, ???

TGN is used by the moderators when it is clear that a thread will be of little use to others trying to solve a problem. TGN does not end discussion, but it keeps it out of the major search engines and Bing.

The first step towards moving it back would be to comply with the existing requests for specific information. I do not have that problem with Thunderbird on KDE or i3 with an Intel GPU.

Upon doing some searching, I found https://hg.mozilla.org/mozilla-central/ … ostics.cpp, which seems to be the source of your problem. But I am not sure how that is launching.

I have NOT ignored you. My system was offline for 24 hours. Have you never had downtime?

So it boils down to :
Thunderbird:: gfx/layers/composite/Diagnostics.cpp routine Diagnostics::GetFrameOverlayString is being activated.

I have not used xfce4 for quite a while. Are you using any special themes?
Is it convenient to try another window manager, (openbox, i3, or even twm [which probably is installed])

I think you somehow enabled the fps overlay in about:config

layers.acceleration.draw-fps

There was a similar issue with an older thunderbird update as well: https://www.tonmann.com/2015/07/strange … e-to-38-1/

I used to have those. That must be it. HOW did you find that?

I found it. Set to TRUE. TRying FALSE now.
