Hi
I have an hdd with arch installation and want to migrate system to ssd. So, I created two partitions ext4, 70G for / and rest for 'home'. I used rsync according to wiki. I did the same for home directory. Everything is where it suppose to be.
Unfortunately grub will not load ![]()
I can chroot to the system on ssd.
fstab has been change according to blkid.
mount points set: mount /dev/sda1 /mnt, mount /dev/sda2 /home
grub-install --target=i386-pc --force /dev/sda1
new grub.cfg generated
mkinitcpio -p linux executed
Grub still won't load...
Then I realised ssd was using GPT, whereas HDD MBR. I converted GPT to MBR and made sda1 ( / ) bootable as it was on hdd, then repeated previous commands. Still won't work.
I do not use UEFI, and there is no windows installation.
Unfotunately, I cannot post any journals, etc as I can only access chroot.
Grub is definetely installed, when I ran pacman -S grub, I am asked to reinstall this.
I honestly ran out of ideas....
Any advice highly appreciated. Thank you:)
Edit: I was thinking that ownership / permissions can be wrong. Gparted works as root, therefore it sets root as owner of partitions. /home folder is owned by me, whereas / I did not change.
EDIT2 (from arch wiki): where /dev/sdX is the disk where GRUB is to be installed (for example, disk /dev/sda and not partition /dev/sda1).
I can't believe I missed this......
Solved, everything working as it suppose to
