I am running i3 and cannot start compton. When I start compton from the command line it gives the error "glx_init ERROR: No GLX extension." Compton was previously working but I'm guessing it was broken when I upgraded my system. I am using Mesa as my graphics library.
Does anyone know how to fix this?

I did it because I was using my mobile data and did not want to install some of the larger packages.
