I installed the "nvidia" package, which prompted me to install several other packages:
warning: dependency cycle detected:
warning: eglexternalplatform will be installed before its nvidia-utils dependency
Packages (4) egl-wayland-1.1.2-1 eglexternalplatform-1.0+3+g7c8f8e2-1 nvidia-utils-415.27-1 nvidia-415.27-4
Total Installed Size: 195.18 MiB
:: Proceed with installation? [Y/n] It turns out trying to use the Nvidia driver screws everything up, so I uninstalled it. The problem is, my usual "pacman -Rnsc nvidia" *only* uninstalls the nvidia package. I've tried a few different flags, but, consistently, only "nvidia" is removed.
I suppose this means that some dependency was written off somewhere, or that the dependency chain isn't as straightforward as I thought it was. In any case, is there a command that deletes all of those packages?
What I ended up doing was using this script I found:
for i in $(pacman -Qq)
do
grep "\[ALPM\] installed $i" /var/log/pacman.log
done | \
sort -u | \
sed -e 's/\[ALPM\] installed //' -e 's/(.*$//'... and deleting the packages that were installed at the same time as "nvidia". I would rather just use a simple pacman command, though. Is there something that would achieve that?

The problem is specific to these packages and is highlighted in the installation output you presented: there is a circular dependency. So neither of the packages in that dependency cycle will be removed unless you specify that both of them should be:
pacman -Rsn eglexternalplatform nvidia-utilsEDIT: wait, this dependency cycle doesn't exist in the arch repos. Are you using a derivative distro?

Thread title is incorrect, they were not installed as a group. The "group" keyword in makepkg/pacman is not involved in any way.
Furthermore, pacman was supposed to learn how to recursively remove packages with a dependency cycle, in https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/41031 which was released as pacman 5.0.2
Please post the output of pacman -V and pacman --debug -Rs nvidia

I'm not using any derivative distros, no. This is straight-arch (that I downloaded yesterday).

Please post the output of `pacman -Qi eglexternalplatform`.
According to your first post, your pacman thinks that this package depends on nvidia-utils, but the package in the repos does not.

I installed nvidia again to run that command:

For a recursive dependency list, try
pactree eglexternalplatform.
W/ the installed nvidia stack, running "pacman --debug -Rs nvidia" would produce the relevant debug data for the apparent conflict.

Oh! Sorry about that. Here's the output of "pacman --debug -Rs nvidia". The output of "pactree eglexternalplatform"

So there seems no curcular dependency.
Anyway, it would seem that the system fails to remove nvidia-utils (and its dependencies egl-wayland -> eglexternalplatform) but since mesa is mandatory, I don't see why (unless you installed other stuff afterwards)
pacman -Qi nvidia-utilsOffline
So was the output in your first post paraphrased and possibly inaccurate? Did you get the same output the second time you installed nvidia? Or were you able to recursively uninstall the second time with `pacman -Rsn nvidia`?
That odd message in the first post just doesn't make any sense, and I doubt it could be a coincidence.
