[Solved] Netboot fail

Hello,

I've tried to setup a VM who boot on network to install Arch Linux, with the files on this page (BIOS section) : https://www.archlinux.org/releng/netboot/

The iPXE start correctly, but when it try to access to https://www.archlinux.org/releng/netboot/archlinux.ipxe, there is an error (Permission denied http://ipxe.org/022fe23c ). It's look like Let's Encrypt isn't accepted by the iPXE image.

It is possible to update the netboot images? I think I can build my own netboot images, but I think it's better if the pre-built images are working.

Thanks,
Breizh.

Sorry if my english isn't very good.

Re: [Solved] Netboot fail

Can you post a screenshot of the exact error screen?

Re: [Solved] Netboot fail

The actual error code is 022fe23c, while the ipxe.org url redirects to http://ipxe.org/err/022fe2 for some reason. I doubt that it's a certificate issue though.

I also found https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/58470, which was closed because the error apparently fixed itself. You might want to reopen it.

Re: [Solved] Netboot fail

I understood the problem, it was my connection. The request probably failed. It's working fine now. And I think the bug you indicate is the same problem, and it's why it "magically" disappeared.

Thanks for your responses.

Re: [Solved] Netboot fail

Hello,

the problem stills exist, at least for me. I've tried several different builds of ipxe.pxe,  No one worked, always the same error.
Workaround: downloading the ipxe script archlinux.ipxe and chainloading it in the ipxe shell. It's not satisfying.

Re: [Solved] Netboot fail

Hello,
now it's working again. I think there is a temporary problem with the x.509 certificates.

Re: [Solved] Netboot fail

(I know that it is an old thread, but the problem is back)

PXE works but does not manage to download the instructions (error 022fe28f). The link to the instructions exits when accessing through firefox. Is there any solution for using the netboot using ipxe which does not require waiting a few days to solve itself?

Kind regards

Re: [Solved] Netboot fail

The problem might be back due to a different reason, so it's better if you start a new thread.
