Hi
I am having problem to run Debian and Ubuntu; after updating the system today:
schroot -c machine1
E: PAM error: Authentication failureI also cannot use schroot of the Root; with same error.
As I recall; I never configured anything in PAM, till now!
Thankyou

Hi
I think found the cause in /var/log/pacman.log:
[2019-02-09 12:49] [ALPM] upgraded pambase (20171006-1 -> 20190105.1-1)
Also to note:
[2019-02-09 12:54] [ALPM] upgraded linux-lts (4.19.19-1 -> 4.19.20-1)
But I dont know much on the internals, yet!
Thankyou

Hi
I made a test by downgrading:
pacman -U /var/cache/pacman/pkg/pambase-20171006-1-any.pkg.tar.xz Now the schroot works.
Please guide; should I file a bug report?
Thankyou

I think this is the same issue as https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=244101 , and my issue with opensmtpd (https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/61696). It seems adding an /etc/pam.d/schroot is the expected solution. If so, a bug report on the schroot package is the way to go.
Edit: Relevant thread in arch-general: https://lists.archlinux.org/pipermail/a … 46038.html
