I followed the link to the Intel graphics wiki and read how Intel graphics can crash xorg.
As advised I created a file with the suggested option added but it would not boot at all so I deleted the file.
Did I do wrong?

The idea is to append "video=SVIDEO-1:d" to the kernel options, I linked that specific section of the wiki in the other thread (and a ubuntu bug confirming the parameter to resolve the i915 issue)
