Hi
I have a strange problem. I have a 1600*900 thinkpad mounted on a dock to a 1920*1080 monitor on a desk arm. If I configure the external monitor as sitting above the laptop in arandr, my mouse cursor turns huge when I open apps. However, If i configure them side by side, the cursor remains the same size. What could be causing this/how do I stop it?
Thanks

I suspect your side-by-side configuration has the external monitor on the right, right? If the external monitor is to the left and/or above the internal monitor it will be defined as the primary output and the cursor size could be (by default) set relative to that resolution.
If this is the case, just use xrandr's --primary flag with your internal monitor.

Did you solve the problem? I have this issue too. When configuring the secondary monitor at the right / left of built-in monitor, the cursor remains the same size. But configuring above or below, the size of mouse cursor became greater than before.
➜ ~ xrandr --output eDP1 --output HDMI1 --above eDP1
➜ ~ xrandr --output eDP1 --output HDMI1 --right-of eDP1
