Setfont and editing /etc/vconsole.conf dont change nothing. why?

Hello,

I have a similar problem like in https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=190157 , but the solutions do suggested there do not apply to me.

When i type setfont with a specified font and without sudo commands it tells me:
  Couldn't get a file descriptor referring to the console

if i add sudo, then just nothing happens.

Also if I change /etc/vconsole.conf. Nothing happens either.
it looks like this:
  KEYMAP=us
  FONT=latarcyrheb-sun32

I've installed terminus-font.
I use arch, i3 and got a laptop with a radeon graphics card. The difference to the post I have linked and that already got solve:
I do not have a .bash_profile or a .bashrc file. I also dont have a .xinitrc file. So there is nothing i could do to fix the problem with my fonts like suggested in the post.

I want to increase the size of my font, with my new laptop everything is a little bit small and i don't manage to fix it.
If someone has any idea to help me it's really appreciated.
Thankies!

I use arch, i3

setfont is for the console, but you're most likely talking about some X11 VTE (since you're running i3) - those are "normal" GUI processes usually on top of fontconfig and you can use Type1, TrueType or OpenType fonts (w/ the restriction that non-fixed width fonts are neither a good idea, nor reasonably supported; terminus however is of fixed width)

=> figure what VTE you're using (eg. xterm, urxvt, …) and how to configure it (check the wiki)
