[SOLVED] Help Installing Kvantum Widget Style in System Settings

Hi there, I was wondering if anyone could help me figure out how to install Kvantum properly.

After installing the Kvantum package, I am able to run Kvantum Manager and set my desired theme there. However, I need to be able to set KDE's System Settings > Application Style > Widget Style to Kvantum in order for the theme to take effect. The problem is that this option does not exist in the dropdown menu. The only options in the dropdown menu are: Breeze, CDE, Cleanlooks, Fusion, MS Windows 9x, Motif, Oxygen, Plastique, bb10bright, and bb10dark. There is a file in /usr/lib/qt/plugins/styles called libkvantum.so, but this does not show up in the Widget Style settings.

I have this same problem from both the kvantum-qt5 and kvantum-qt5-git (from AUR) packages. My KDE Plasma Version is 5.15.1, and Qt version is 5.12.1. Everything is up to date.

I apologize if I've left out any relevant information. I really appreciate any help anyone here could give me. Thanks for reading!

For the running parts of KDE/LXQt to recognize the new Kvantum theme, the easiest way is logging out and in again.

I know it sounds overly simplistic and like, tech support 101, but have you tried logging out/in, or restarting?

My next idea would be check in the place where KDE stores its themes data.

~/.local/share/plasma/desktoptheme/
/usr/share/plasma/desktoptheme/

Make sure the theme you're trying to use is actually there. If not, well, put it there.

Re: [SOLVED] Help Installing Kvantum Widget Style in System Settings

Hi Ailen. I did indeed reboot, which didn't solve the issue. I checked in those directories you mentioned, and I don't see anything related to Kvantum in there. Which Kvantum files would I put there, and where would I find them?

I copied the specific theme directory from ~/.config/Kvantum to both the directories you mentioned, but unfortunately that didn't change anything.

I really appreciate your help!

Re: [SOLVED] Help Installing Kvantum Widget Style in System Settings

I do not use Kvantum, I just did a quick google search.

I did just install Kvantum, and the kvantum and kvantum-dark themes showed up in System Settings > Application Style > Widget Style. Based on the fact that you said this issue occurred with both the community and aur versions of the package, I can't imagine it being an installation issue, but that would've been my next idea.

I will probably be of no further help, I'm sorry.

Re: [SOLVED] Help Installing Kvantum Widget Style in System Settings

So I ended up reinstalling the package kvantum-qt5 for the third time and it worked. I wish I could explain how, for anyone in the future with this same issue.

Anyways, thanks for your help Ailen!
