Which firefox version you are using, mine is 'firefox 65.0.1-1' from arch repo.
This happens me with 100% of the time I use firefox. (At first I thought that the high ram usage was just my imagination)

We are talking about "YEARS" old bugs (or at least this is what the op stated), so firefox version is not really relevant, right?

Re: System completelly freezes when using video [Solved]

The problem with vlc is related with the libnw.so which is related with the popcorntime app that i was using while watching on vlc via popcorntime. You can find a workaround in comments here:

https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/popc … setlang=tr.

And again its known that Firefox uses too much ram if you leave it running without do anything. You can test for yourself if its hard to believe for you. Open some tabs. Leave Firefox running for 2-3 hours and then see the insane ram consumption. If you got extreme ram like 8 or 16 gb you may wont notice but i got only 4 gb of ram so... But again its not that the point of the topic. FIrefox was the only browser that i have ever used for personal use and it was for me the first time with chromium. That's why I'm comparing them. Im not neither Chrome's fan nor Google's smile

For the record, here's the official article about the ram usage.

And vlc gives you the very same problem because...

Anyway, nevermind.
Please, mark your thread as solved and let's move on.

Yeah, but my way of topic question was about ram problems with current firefox. I don't care about "high" ram usage while running firefox, but I'm kind of curious why I lose ~500MB of ram after using firefox for few hours. If your firefox version is same than mine, the problem is somewhere else than in firefox. That's why I asked.

Thanks for the about:memory thing, I had no idea that something like that exists.
