Hello, I posted about this in Laptop Issues, but it didn't help. So I'm at lease trying this Newbie Corner...
I installed Arch recently. It works perfectly when it's charging with AC adapter or when it's with battery mode. However, when it's on the docking station, it make some annoying high-pitched noise continuously. I tried using https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/leno … g-fix-git/, but it didn't help.
As I remember, I didn't experienced this in windows. But when I'm using several kinds of linux distribution, I can hear this high-pitched, loud noise.
Any ideas?

It has just been a day and these are active forums, if you don't get an answer that is usually an indication that either nobody knows, or you haven't specified the problem well enough. Since this is such a fringe case, it's quite possible that the first option is true.
Coil whines like that are often related to some audio channels getting activated and being improperly shielded or similar, do you use any power manager like TLP or laptop-mode-tools or similar that adjust kernel knobs? What happens if you mute your audio? Which cards are present after docking? What are the outputs of
aplay -l
dmesgafter docking? Post these in [ code ] tags.
Edit: Whoops, looks like slithery and I had similar ideas, reinstating this, as it now has at least one somewhat relevant addition

I don't know this info will help, but the type of noise is like: avg 3 sec of very high pitched noise(which makes my ear little stressed but can't 'hear' it well), and another 3 sec of slightly lower pitched noise(I can hear this very well unless I use an earphone)...and it continues.

You could try to mute/switch "Capture", but if the noise happens despite the muted outputs, it might not origin from the DSP - can you locate the physical source (some speaker?)
Offline
I cannot locate it since my ear is not a radar...Also, I can't disassemble it to locate the source ![]()
I can hear it from the laptop and the docking station. But there wasn't any sound until last week, so I'm guessing that it's source is inside the laptop.

I think it's coming from the CPU. When I close chrome and it stops.

If your Laptop can't isolate interference without support from Operating System, reconsider? I have had motherboards (different from Laptop, Laptops should have already be designed that way), the background noise is switched off.
My question, has it always existed ?
Offline
I'd rather bet on the GPU.
Please post a complete "sudo journalctl -b" - also try to stress GPU and CPU individually or enforce software rendering (whether and how that's possible requires information from the journal ;-)
ftr: radar isn't accustic, you (hopefully) have two ears and you can binaurally locate high frequencies very good (it's the very low ones that you can hear but not locate, why there's only one subwoofer)
Offline
GPU might be drawing more power that can induce 'whine sound'.
