Good day,
I have been having rather odd issues with my wifi from my very first install of arch linux on my macbook pro retina (2015).
I have used both broadcom-wl and broadcom-wl-dkms, both which work as far as getting my wifi up and connected; but the issue is present with both installs.
It's either one or a combination of the following I am experiencing:
1. Sudden drop in internet speed
2. SLOW internet on a whole
3. Wifi disconnection to the point I have to disconnect and reconnect; recreate my connection or reboot
I am using NetworkManager and have created my connection as follows:
# Connect to Hidden Wifi
nmcli c add type wifi con-name <connection name> ifname wlp3s0 ssid <SSID>
nmcli con modify LLT wifi-sec.key-mgmt wpa-psk
nmcli con modify LLT wifi-sec.psk <password>
nmcli con up LLT --askThe --ask is there because I get this error:
Warning: password for '802-11-wireless-security.psk' not given in 'passwd-file' and nmcli cannot ask without
'--ask' option.
Error: Connection activation failed: Secrets were required, but not providedI found the above commands online cause the SSID where I am is hidden. So not sure if the way I added the connection is a probable issue.
Any weird internet issues, I would do a simple ping; results vary from ok results (1-10ms), to odd (100-300ms), to abnormal (1000-3000ms) to ridiculous (10000ms-30000ms). After getting so high, internet will either come back to normal or........let's just say I have to reset something.
I have other devices with me, and their ping results are alright. Even when I no longer have internet, the other devices still function ok. I am still in the process of troubleshooting and the reason I suspect the driver is because I don't recall having this issue when I had Mint installed (could be wrong) and with OSX, didn't have this issue.
Also I found this Ubuntu Link from this video and the problems outlined matches what I am experiencing. I also, checked for any DHCP ip issues on the network where I am at (gave myself a static one) and no improvements.
So I will continue troubleshooting and researching but as always, any info can help. Any configs or processes, that I maybe asked to check, I am asking for the necessary commands, i may or may not know them. Learning linux still
Thanks

I have similar issues with systemd-networkd on Broadcom BCM4360. Wifi through android usb tethering works perfectly with good speed and ping
