Screen not resuming from standby

Currently have a samsung tv/monitor connected to pc via hdmi -> dvi cable and it has a setting on the monitor that puts it into standby after a set period of time. Don't really want to disable this setting. PC is currently running KDE Plasma.

Problem I am having is that the monitor will not resume from standby by tapping keyboard or moving/clicking the mouse, but I have to pull out the hdmi connector from the monitor and plug it back in for the screen to come back to life.

Is there anything to configure so the pc can correctly wakeup the monitor or is this behaviour a consequence of using hdmi->dvi cable?

Thanks.

* Update * - should just add that all power settings in kde for the monitor have been disabled and only the screen locker is active.

Re: Screen not resuming from standby

The TV will completely deregister and fail subquent handshakes. The obvious weak spot here is the connector (albeit not a mandatory one, just would mean that the converter sucks, if it is to blame)
Can you setup a direct connection (hdmi, VGA and most likely neither DP won't expose this) or try a different connector?
Altering the resolution forth and back (using "xrandr --output FOO --mode 1024x768; xrandr --output FOO --auto") is likely sufficient to kick the Tv out of its beauty nap - you could bind that to a shortcut.

Re: Screen not resuming from standby

Agree with @seth that the monitor stops communicating once it goes to standby so my temporary solution has been to disable all power features. This at the very least keeps everything working without having to unplug cables.

Might try enabling the power features in KDE to see if they enable the monitor to resume perhaps from a "softer" form of standby.
