Hi All,
this is my first post on this forum and my first week on Arch but also linux in general. It has been challenging, being an avg windows user till now but I am enjoying it.
My setup:
hardware: 2 identical Nvidia Quadro P600 GPU's and 4 monitors hooked up to each card.
software: i3wm (no gui). No xinerama, just xrandr.
this is what I see in the terminal

xrandr --newmode......Step 2 is where I have the problem:
~$ xrandr --addmode DP-2 1920x1080_60.00

Thank you

You need to configure a basemosaic setup, the nvidia-settings gui should provide that.

Thank you very much! Works perfectly! (i3 does not recognize the extra monitors and wont open a window in them; also the mouse changes when in them. But that is another issue which I will look into!

Critical question: can you move (floating) windows there resp. does another WM not show this behavior (because otherwise you've two independent X11 screens, not bound by BaseMosaic)
Offline
You are right: I cannot move windows there and I do have 2 screens in my config.
I guess now I should find out how to bind these 2 screens with the basemosaic.I was too fast to celebrate.
BTW I really appreciate your help Seth

What does your xorg config look like?

That's either capped or invalid.
Also there's no basemosaic secion, not metamodes.
See https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/NVIDIA#TwinView for a *pattern* on what that would look like.
Does nvidia-settings not provide you w/ a BaseMosaic checkbox?
PS: you might want to "unsolved" the thread for the time being.

Success! Everything works as should ie. windows move everywhere and mouse moves around in the right orders.
NOTE: In order to view the option "Base Mosaic" in the nvidia-settings app you must go to the advanced settings of the X server Display Configuration.
-Once you move the monitor widgets around accordingly hit apply to check if you are happy with it.
-Then you must press "Save to X configuration file"
-A window pops up: chose the merge option if you already have a config that is not working.
I will post my config file so others with similar issues may use as a guide.
