I just installed i3 and my sound does not work.
I installed pulseaudio and activated it with
systemctl --user enable pulseaudio I also tried to start it with
start-pulseaudio-x11 I do not know what to check next.
I'm starting i3 with this command
startx /usr/bin/i3Last edited by Todaug (2019-03-08 20:59:53)

"Does not work" is no usable problem description.
If the sound worked w/o PA see https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Pu … leshooting - or just kick PA.
Also read https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/PulseAudio on how to obtain statūs and to figure that PA is socket activated and enabling a user service is not required.

Your command to start X/i3 will not parse a ~/.xinitrc and prevent your proper session initialization scripts from being ran and thus pulse being properly started, set up a proper xinitrc and use just startx.
Should that not suffice post the outputs of
systemctl --user status pulseaudio
sudo fuser -v /dev/snd/*
loginctl session-status
#If pulse is actually running, during attempted playback
pacmd list-cards
pacmd list-sinks
pacmd list-sink-inputsOffline
Ok, I solved my problem today by updating my packages. I had to say that I also updated my packages yesterday, so I don't really know what could have happened. I guess I'll never really know.
By the way, thank you V1del for your help :-)
