I have archlinux installed on a MSI GP 63 Leopard laptop, but I get no sound from the built-in speakers. If I plug a USB headphone or a regular earphone on the audio jack everything works.
I have tried this fix for a similar problem in another model of MSI laptop but with no success.
I have also tried changing soundcards in the alsa-mixer but I wasn't able to get it working.
Here is some additional info:
$ lspci | grep Audio
00:1f.3 Audio device: Intel Corporation Cannon Lake PCH cAVS (rev 10)
I suspect it has something to do with how MSI laptops manage audio, as explained in the link I posted above, but that particular solution does not work for the GP 63 Leopard model, as the problem is a little bit different: I have sound when a speaker is plugged via USB or audio jack, but I get no sound from the built-in speakers when no peripheral is connected to the laptop.
Thanks.
