I'm having the same issue to edward.81 in "Firefox, no sound from some video.".
I figured I better not bump it since they don't describe their setup.. I'm unable to hear any audio out of either of the following videos when I use Firefox, the problem doesn't happen with Chromium:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QRYzre4bf7I
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ucjn6HCd2zI
The problem happens with some other videos too, probably about 5% of the videos I watch, sometimes it can be resolved by reducing video quality but I don't really want to do that..
I'm using a Steinberg UR824 interface and it looks like pulseaudio thinks it's an 8.1 system.. It is listed as "Multichannel audio" in pulsemixer and using pavumeter I managed to see that these videos are playing out of channel 5 "Front center". If I swap a cable to channel 5 I can hear the audio. I only have stereo monitors and don't want this to happen.
I tried creating a copy of /etc/pulse/daemon.conf at ~/.config/pulse/daemon.conf and editing the following fields:
enable-remixing = no
default-sample-channels = 2
default-channel-map = front-left,front-rightHere's the output of pacmd list-sinks while the video is playing.
