So I tried installing a package from the AUR and the plain Installation process seems to have worked but when typing pacman - U package.tar.xz I get the error message "invalid or corrupted package" over and over again even after repetetive download.

Please post the actual command you used and all the output it produced.

Hello there,
At a cursory first glance, package.tar.xz (proper naming scheme would be package.pkg.tar.xz for Arch Linux packages), you might be attempting to install the source tar ball rather the actual package?

Of course, sorry:
$ su
password:
$ pacman -U numix-circle-icon-theme-git-0.r36.a673d9d-1.src.tar.gz
loading packages..
error: missing package metadata in numix-circle-icon-theme-git-0.r36.a673d9d-1.src.tar.gz
error: 'numix-circle-icon-theme-git-0.r36.a673d9d-1.src.tar.gz': invalid or corrupted package
Thank you!

We thought you realized the problem with your last post. You aren't trying to install a package, you're trying to install the source tarball, which will never work.

Ah yes..
For some reason I just trusted an answer from stackoverflow which says to type "pacman -U whateverpackage.tar.xz".. But using makepkg -si instead of just -S did the Job. Thanks again
Im just pretty new to pacman and AUR. But im gonna get there step by step!

pacman -U works fine, you just have to run it on the correct file. That's all makepkg -i does is run pacman -U.
