Installed base, but can't go further

Installed base of Achlinux-0.7.2
It boots (OK?) but ends with:

Mounting /dev/root on /new_root failed: No such device or address.
(well: /new_root is there)*
pivot_root: No such file or directory (check)*
umount: /initrd: No such file or directory (check)*
/linuxrc: 487: /sbin/busybox not found (check)*
Freeing unused kernel memory 244 k freed

BusyBox v1.01
Enter 'help' for ...
/bin/sh: can't access tty: job control turned off.

(..)*: my comments

I know my way around with Slackware, but this is beyond my understanding.
Any hint would be much appreciated

The end of /var/log/everything reads:

Re: Installed base, but can't go further

Got a ASUS P5GD1 mb. with
Intel Corporation 915G/P/GV/GL/PL/910GL PCI Express Root Port (rev 04)
and WD hard disk.
Reinstallation of Arch with SCSI-kernel resulted in succesfull boot.
However modprobe sk98lin (NIC) failed.
Compiling the module from source failed as well.

Installed with pacman the 2.6 kernel, edited and run lilo.
Have now a choice: 2.6 or 2.4
Boot of 2.6 kernel fails
Boot of 2.4 kernel is OK
What's wrong? udev?

Re: Installed base, but can't go further

Try using kernel26.img in place of initrd26.img.  It appears you partitions are obscenely high (hda22).  Initrd does not handle this, but the initcpio image will.

Have a few distros on this disk.
As a matter of fact: Debian Sarge on hda 20 / 21; no problem with initrd.

Can't find a kernel26.img on hda22.
Pls explain, like to get my hands on Arch

Thx

With the recent stock kernel, there should be a /boot/kernel26.img. If you didn't do an FTP install, try chroot'ing in with a livecd and run "pacman -Syu"

Did install from CD.
So booted Livecd and chrooted to arch (hda22)
Results:

root@linux /]# pacman -Syu
:: Synchronizing package databases...
gethostbyname: Resource temporarily unavailable
error: cannot connect to ftp.surfnet.nl etc...
error: could not open sync database: extra
       have you used --refresh yet?

[root@linux /]# pacman -Q kernel26.img
Package "kernel26.img" was not found.]

Livecd was online..
Tried to connect with Links (while in arch) to no avail.

Get the idea that something is wrong the way arch detects hardware.
