icon theme resets after reboot in KDE [SOLVED]

When I reboot or log out, the icon theme that I set resets to an older icon theme which I don't want. I had tried removing the old icon theme which results in no ICON theme.

When I set the icon theme it stays until reboot or log out after that it resets to paper-icon-theme-git. I was able to change icon themes before but now suddenly I just know what has happened

I am using KDE plasma

Also changing Icon theme in XFCE works but not in KDE

I've got the same issue. OP, did you ever figure out how to fix the problem? If not, and someone else reads this, where should we be looking to figure out how KDE sets icons when it starts?

Awesome, this worked immediately for me! It actually solved another problem I was having as well with getting the color scheme to work. Thanks for the quick reply!

I was stuck with that problem since 2 months without having the time to fix it. Found this thread and fixed it. Thank you Smit, you made my day.
