[Solved] Hiss noise in earphones when charger is connected

My earphone is hissing when my laptop is connected to charger. The hissing goes away as soon as I remove charger.

Laptop: Thinkpad T440s
Earphones: boAt BassHeads 225

Arch is only OS on my laptop. Will have to check it by booting into some USB stick.

i'd strongly suspect that's just due to poor electrical isolation or a low-quality dac in your laptop. all my laptops have at least some hiss through the 3.5mm output, especially with a rotational hdd or optical drive spinning. in your case, since it's just when the charger is connected, i'd bet your charger produces a fair bit of electrical noise. you could try adding a ferrite core or two to the cable between your charger brick and the laptop. there are clip-on ones available and they're pretty cheap.

Indeed it was a problem with power supply. On changing the power source, It is not happening. Weird.

Do you have access to a oscilloscope?  Two credits says you have significant ripple on that 'bad' power supply -- probably at a harmonic of the switching frequency of the supply.  I'm guessing 12 to 15 kHz. (Not that I have heard those frequencies for years sad )

I don't have access to oscilloscope at the moment. I don't think I'll have access to one in near future. Think for the suggestion though.
