Can't figure out how to edit Kernel Parameters

I'm trying to figure out how to add lines to the kernel module. I've read the wiki page (https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Kernel_module), but I can't figure out how to add the lines that I need.

I'm trying to add the following lines to fix an audio and video playback issue that's likely being caused by an initialization issue with the gpu (see issue here: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=244907):

 amdgpu.dpm=0 amdgpu.aspm=0 amdgpu.runpm=0 amdgpu.bapm=0

I haven't found a guide to this, so I'm having some trouble wrapping my mind around how this part works.

Re: Can't figure out how to edit Kernel Parameters

There are three options described, two of which are a more permanent approach (2 & 3). What is not clear about that?

Re: Can't figure out how to edit Kernel Parameters

I've tried adding a

.conf

file to the

/etc/modprobe.d

directory and I'm running to the same issue. Either that fix isn't working, or I'm doing something wrong. The

.conf

file that I created reads as follows:

options amdgpu.dpm=0 amdgpu.aspm=0 amdgpu.runpm=0 amdgpu.bapm=0

I've also tried:

options dpm amdgpu.dpm=0 aspm amdgpu.aspm=0 runpm amdgpu.runpm=0 bapm amdgpu.bapm=0

to try and give aliases to each of the options, as per the instructions under the

 /etc/modprobe.d

section. This also did not work, likely for the same reason the other input I tried doesn't, but also because the aliases that I'm using aren't something that is anywhere in the kernel.

The other methods are even less clear to me. I'm almost sure the third option for Using kernel command line won't work for these options because of the following:

If the module is built into the kernel, ...

I doubt these options would be built into the kernel, so this would exclude this as an option for modifying.

The first option isn't ideal in the sense that I would like these changes to be permanent, that is, if they work.

man modprobe.d wrote:

The format of files under modprobe.d is simple: one command per line

Try that...

Re: Can't figure out how to edit Kernel Parameters

options amdgpu.dpm=0 amdgpu.aspm=0 amdgpu.runpm=0 amdgpu.bapm=0

list the module name once after options then parameter=value pairings.

Re: Can't figure out how to edit Kernel Parameters

The modprobe method would be

 options amdgpu dpm=0 aspm=0 runpm=0 bapm=0

Also fwiw you are interpreting a bit to much into that line in the wiki (it might have to be adjusted) applying them to the kernel command line will work with the original syntax. Which is what I've originally been going for when I gave the suggestion.
