Ah, unfortunately.. no changes. I'm thinking its just some left over file which is causing my device to try to utilize my GPU. My goal is to just go back to intel only graphics, and keep my GPU turned off entirely.

One last thing you could try is to strace the process to get an idea on what it's spending so much time on.
I don't see how merely starting some X11 client could attempt to activate your GPU. Let alone only starting the second client (since afaiu the first urxvt comes up fast?)

Yes, the first urxvt client gets started almost immediately with startx urxvt. Then anything ran from there takes forever to start. Really weird. Also, I'm not sure what is making neofetch say my gpu is the nVidia one.
Offline
neofetch is a dumb shell script that parses lspci depending on a setting to whether display the IGP, the GPU or both - you can happily ignore what these hwinfo tools print in general: it's meaningless BS for screenshots.
strace urxvt > urxvt.strace 2>&1That's gonna be A LOOOOOT of text, though, so please use some pastebin service.

Can you recommend a pastebin client. I'm using pastebinit, and I think the files too big for pastebinit to handle. It's huge.. I'm pretty sure its filled with a lot of extra font info. I'm just struggling getting it into pastebin (if its even possible with a file 1+GB), and can't just copy and paste it since its too large. Sorry for the ignorance, I've been trying to upload this file for the past hour lol.

> 1GB is excessive!!
It's like 250kB here.
You could compress it and upload it to drive.google.com, but I assume if you look at it, there'll be some lines that make up for almost all of the file (polling a resource or so) and that will probably explain the high CPU load.

There is an insane amount of slightly different variations of this font stuff. There's also some similar stuff with perl.

wtf is there an icon theme in your fonts folder?
Remove or at least move away /home/four/.fonts/fonts-master/papirus-icon-theme-master
Offline
Perhaps just move .fonts to another location or if you create a new user is the issue still present using that new user?

Deleted the entire ~/.fonts/fonts-master directory. Launching everything is super fast again now! Thanks a lot lol. Only issue now is that polybar doesn't recognize monitor 'eDP1', but that shouldn't be too hard to fix hopefully.

Please always remember to mark resolved threads by editing your initial posts subject - so others will know that there's no task left, but maybe a solution to find.
Thanks.

Simple as changing 'eDP1' to 'eDP-1' ![]()
