yaft locks up console

trying to get yaft to work but just locks up the console after i invoke 'yaft'.

i installed fbv
i set FRAMEBUFFER=/dev/fb0
i added my user to the video group

i cant figure out anything else i should do. 

i am running arch in virtualbox if that makes a difference.

So somehow you didn't figure out what 'yaft' needs? Did you get in touch with the developer ?
