[SOLVED] Firefox 67: Weird line under whatever I'm typing

I updated GNOME and Firefox today, and since then there's occasionally been a line underneath everything I type, as evidenced in this screencast.

However, this behaviour will randomly disappear and reappear again.
I think I keep hitting a keyboard shortcut accidentally, but I don't know which feature it is I'm turning on or off. Does anyone here know?

Edit: It's just Firefox, not all of the GNOME environment.

When I type in Gnome terminal, I cannot see this issue, neither in Gedit.
In which application does this actually occur?

It did not appear that 'I' was underlined, but I could be wrong.  Any chance it is an on the fly spelling check?  Try misspelling a word and see what happens.

If you look closely I actually was underlined.

I triple-checked, and it turns out it's in Firefox only (my bad for knee-jerking - GNOME was merely the largest update, not the only one), and it toggles with shift-space, so I'd say that narrows it down considerably.
Missspelling words has no effect.

Sidenote: if I'm not focused in an input field, shift+space still functions as the poor man's PgUp.

I just tried it in Firefox. Shift+Space just produces a space here.
The underlining does not occur. Might this be related to a plugin that you use?

I was wondering the same ting, so I fired up a clean profile just now. It has the same issue.
It's probably worth mentioning that I'm on the Aurora channel via firefox-developer-edition, so I guess I'll be reporting upstream.

Quite apparently so, though knowing how to switch it off can hardly be called a "fix."

I've reported the issue upstream; thanks everyone.

Re: [SOLVED] Firefox 67: Weird line under whatever I'm typing

For posterity, here's the root cause, and how I managed to fix this.
Turns out Firefox uses the UIM input method, which has its own set of configurable hotkeys. Shift+space happened to turn on input conversion, which allows one to convert the buffer of entered text (the portion that is underlined) to - presumably - CJK characters.

To turn this feature off, execute `uim-pref-gtk`, navigate to the section "Global key bindings 1" and disable the "<shift>Space" hotkey.
