Archlinux - Fantastic!!

I have tried so many different Linux distributions it is not funny any more. They all run really slow on my very old IBM T21 laptop. But not Arch. It feels like I got a new computer, everything runs really smooth and load times have dramatically been reduced.

Finally I have found a distribution that, by default, do not load tons of software that I do not need and slows down my laptop.

Thank you developers and Archers for this fantastic distribution  big_smile

+1!
I've tried a much of distros, but almostly used Slacware and Debian but in Arch there's all things I need, I found it as a gold center between them! And as I see, community is as great as distro %)

Re: Archlinux - Fantastic!!

I've used Suse, Red Hat, ubuntu, gentoo, vector, fedora and mandrake.

None of them can compare to arch.  Arch is the best given how easy it is to configure.  The only bad thing bout Arch is some of the documentation.  We have to improve the docs, people!

Re: Archlinux - Fantastic!!

I wouldn't say that the docs are bad... the Wiki is quite good, and there is an installation guide which I haven't read completely but flew over it a bit, and it seems to be covering the most important things. What else do you need? wink

Re: Archlinux - Fantastic!!

It really seems that people aren't aware of the Wiki, not that we don't make an effort for its awareness by posting links everywhere on the site and message board. Perhaps we should put somewhere in the distro itself a URL to the wiki? Kind of like how the URL for the main Arch site is in the init scripts and such.

Right on - arch is the best and fastest...

a. because it only installs the software YOU want.
b. because it is 686- or amd64-optimized
