Re: Which packages did you optimize?

mplayer, though it isn't really needed ,but I hated the '--enable-runtime-cpudetection is not optimal yada yada' prompt every time I played a file >.<

just fyi, the new mplayer (1.0pre8) doesn't print that warning message anymore.

Re: Which packages did you optimize?

Mplayer, xvidcore (makes encoding to xvid a LOT faster), emacs-cvs.
Those are the ones I compiled instead of using their binary versions.

Re: Which packages did you optimize?

kernel(2.6.18-rc4),gcc(4.2),binutils(2.17),glibc(2.4),gnome(garnome-2.14.3),emacs(cvs version --with-gtk),mplayer(svn, and no-gui), etc, etc(/home/user/*),initscripts(removed fucking "::" ">"), gnome-terminal(left only ">", yeah, this is re-re-optimzing), gnome-screensaver(replace it by xscreensaver-5.00, re-re-opt)

I removed my sig, cause i select the flag, the flag often the target of enemy.

Re: Which packages did you optimize?

Not looking at AUR packages, I think it's only my custom kernel.

Re: Which packages did you optimize?

kernel because the one i use is neither in repos nor in AUR. everything else comes from official repos, AUR and a few other resources like kde-apps.org...

Re: Which packages did you optimize?

mplayer (built it from svn), kernel. Everything else is i686 (i have a AMD64 3200+, don't see the benefit to upgrading to x86_64 because all I will get is more headaches).

Archie is a live CD. It has an option to do a HD install, though.
As for this thread, I guess that nano meant Arch, not Archie.

In that case: Also recompiled kernel (had to change .config to CONFIG_BLK_DEV_LOOP=n) and patched util-linux to support loop-AES.

Re: Which packages did you optimize?

I wouldn't call it optimizing, but I had to add wpa support to the madwifi drivers.

Re: Which packages did you optimize?

Recompiled links with --enable-graphics, openbox from cvs with the hidemenuheader-patch, and a whole bunch of minor stuff I don't remember right now.
